A road rage incident in Lewes on Saturday evening resulted in the arrest of a Rehoboth man, Tyler Draine, 27 years old. The incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. when Delaware State Police responded to the area of Coastal Highway and Wescoats Road following reports of a road rage incident involving a knife.

According to reports, a man operating a moped came to a stop in front of a car at a red light on Coastal Highway. The suspect, later identified as Draine, allegedly approached the car and threatened to harm the two occupants while brandishing a knife. The victims immediately called 911, prompting the suspect to flee southbound on Coastal Highway on his moped.

Shortly after the incident, a trooper spotted a man matching the suspect’s description driving southbound near Airport Road. The trooper pulled over the moped and engaged with the driver, Tyler Draine. However, Draine reportedly failed to comply with verbal commands and proceeded to run across Coastal Highway in front of oncoming traffic. After a brief foot chase, Draine was apprehended and found to be in possession of a pocketknife.

Draine now faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated menacing, two counts of terroristic threatening, two counts of disorderly conduct, carrying a concealed dangerous instrument, resisting arrest, expired tags, and crossing at other than a crosswalk. He was later released on a $6,202 unsecured bond.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of road rage and the importance of maintaining composure in stressful situations while on the road. Authorities urge all motorists to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in aggressive behavior while driving to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
