FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The individual convicted of the murder of a 56-year-old in Fresno County has been handed down a sentence by the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, as per an announcement made on Monday.

Sentencing of Brandon Engelman

Brandon Engelman, a resident of Coarsegold, who was accused of the murder of Pacer Hampton from Fresno, has received his sentence on Monday. Earlier in the year, Engelman entered a plea deal for voluntary manslaughter with the use of a firearm.

Discovery of the Victim

On April 13, 2021, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to an incident around 2:15 p.m. A service worker had reported a car that had crashed through a fence, with a man appearing to be inside, possibly asleep. However, upon further investigation, deputies discovered the lifeless body of the 56-year-old victim, Pacer Hampton from Fresno, inside the vehicle.

Authorities determined that the injuries sustained by Hampton were not consistent with a typical car crash, leading them to suspect foul play.

Arrest and Investigation

On May 14, 2021, it was revealed that the suspect in question, then 40-year-old Brandon Engelman, had been apprehended earlier that week on suspicion of homicide. Additionally, he was facing a separate kidnapping charge unrelated to the death of Hampton.

The Sheriff’s officials disclosed that Engelman was affiliated with a white supremacist gang. Despite ongoing investigations, it was asserted that Engelman was the primary perpetrator in Hampton’s murder.

Sentencing Outcome

After the legal proceedings, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office confirmed on Monday that Engelman had been sentenced to a term of 10 years in state prison for his involvement in the crime.
