Springfield, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Shock and disbelief reverberate through the streets of Springfield as authorities reveal the tragic details of a double fatal stabbing that occurred over the weekend. The names of the victims have been released by Jim Leydon, spokesperson for the Hampden District Attorney’s Office.
Domestic Disturbance Turns Deadly
The harrowing incident unfolded on the 100 block of Marion Street late Sunday morning, when Springfield Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance. What they encountered was a scene of horror, with two adult female stabbing victims lying lifeless. The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Nour Al Kherat of Springfield and 39-year-old Ruwaida Salamat.
Suspect in Custody
The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Osamah Al Kharet of West Springfield, is believed to be the father of one of the victims. He was arrested and arraigned on Monday, facing charges of two counts of murder, armed assault to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Al Kharet is currently held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.
