Tragedy struck yesterday in Sri Aman as a two-vehicle collision on Jalan Sri Aman-Betong resulted in the loss of one life and left three others injured. The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 pm and involved a Toyota Fortuner carrying four individuals and a Perodua Myvi driven by an elderly woman.
Emergency Response by Fire and Rescue Department
Upon receiving an emergency call, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) swiftly deployed firefighters from the Sri Aman station to the scene. When they arrived, they found the overturned Fortuner with the trapped driver inside. Immediate extrication works were conducted to free the driver from the vehicle.
Victim’s Identity and Pronouncement of Death
The victim, identified as 47-year-old Jee Choon Vui, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was subsequently transported to the hospital for post-mortem procedures.
Rescue of Injured Individuals
Fortunately, three other individuals from the Fortuner, including a 46-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old boy, were rescued by members of the public. While they sustained minor injuries, they were promptly taken to the hospital for further medical attention.
Uninjured Myvi Driver
The 66-year-old driver of the Perodua Myvi emerged from the collision unscathed, escaping without any injuries.
