A gunman driving a vehicle targeted an SUV on Route 30 in York County on Monday evening, as confirmed by the police. Witness the latest updates from WGAL News 8.
According to the Northern York County Regional Police, they received reports of multiple shots fired on Route 30 in Manchester Township at approximately 6:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a disabled vehicle in a grassy area at the entrance to the Manchester Crossroads. The vehicle showed signs of impact damage from bullets. The driver of the vehicle was located in a nearby business.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim’s vehicle, a 2007 Kia SUV, was travelling eastbound on US Rt 30 east of Breezeview Drive. A second vehicle, with an unknown description, also travelling eastbound, began firing at the Kia. Subsequently, the Kia crossed over the concrete median across the westbound lanes and jumped a curb.
The sole occupant of the Kia, a 22-year-old man, fortunately escaped injury. In response, investigators closed down eastbound Route 30 for over an hour to gather evidence.
Police suspect that this incident was a targeted attack, with the driver of the Kia being the intended victim.
