SHREVEPORT, United Kingdom (KSLA) – A 37-year-old Shreveport man has been apprehended on a multitude of charges following what authorities are labelling as a “dramatic” pursuit.
On the evening of June 3, at approximately 9 p.m., officers from the Shreveport Police Department swiftly responded to a report concerning a hit-and-run incident in the vicinity of Fairfield Avenue and Kings Highway. The suspect’s vehicle allegedly collided with the victim’s car on numerous occasions before fleeing the scene.
Shortly thereafter, law enforcement located the suspect’s vehicle near Kings Highway and Thornhill Avenue and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as 37-year-old Dalton Lewis, reportedly refused to comply, instigating a pursuit. During the course of the chase, Lewis purportedly attempted to evade capture by intentionally colliding with police vehicles multiple times, as detailed by SPD reports.
Subsequently, Lewis was taken into custody and formally charged with the following offences:
- hit-and-run
- resisting arrest with force/violence
- aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer
- aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer using a vehicle
- aggravated property damage
- reckless operation of a motor vehicle
- attempting to evade arrest while operating a motor vehicle
- threatening a public official
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, emphasising the importance of public safety and the dedication of law enforcement in maintaining order within the community.
