BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) apprehended two suspects following a car chase that spanned St. Clair, Jefferson, and Shelby County on Tuesday morning, as confirmed by ALEA Senior Trooper Vu Quang.

At around 6:56 a.m., an ALEA Highway Patrol Trooper tried to pull over a 2022 Volvo XC60 for speeding on I-20 between Moody and Pell City.

However, the driver of the Volvo refused to stop, leading to a pursuit that continued onto I-20 in Jefferson County and then onto I-65 in Shelby County.

During the chase, the Volvo collided with a 2015 Ford F-250, resulting in minor damage to the vehicles involved.

The driver of the Volvo, identified as Chesnie M. Redmond, a 38-year-old from Fountain Inn, South Carolina, was taken into custody. She faces charges of felony attempting to elude, reckless endangerment, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Redmond also received citations for various traffic violations.

Meanwhile, the passenger, 26-year-old Denzel M. Talton from Greer, South Carolina, attempted to flee on foot but was later captured. Talton has been charged with attempting to elude and possession of marijuana.

Quang mentioned in a statement, “The successful traffic stop and arrests were a result of the collaborative efforts between ALEA and the Alabaster Police Department.”

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. ALEA is currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
