Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded in the Cleveland metropolitan area on June 3 when a 3-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in broad daylight by a woman identified as 32-year-old Bionca Ellis of Cleveland, Ohio. The North Olmsted Police Department has charged Ms. Ellis with aggravated murder, and she is currently being held in the North Olmsted Jail awaiting her court appearance on June 4. Detective Sgt. Matt Beck of the North Olmsted Police Department stated that additional charges may be added once the case is presented to the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
According to police reports, the horrifying attack took place at around 3 p.m. in the parking lot of a Giant Eagle supermarket, where multiple 911 calls reported a black female dressed in all black stabbing people. Responding officers found Ms. Ellis walking towards Dover Center Road still in possession of the kitchen knife used in the attack. She was taken into custody without incident, while 38-year-old Margot Wood and her 3-year-old son, Julian Wood, were rushed to St. John’s Medical Center for treatment.
Tragically, Julian Wood succumbed to his injuries and passed away, while his mother, Margot Wood, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover. Sgt. Beck stated that the investigation into the motive behind the attack is ongoing, but all evidence suggests that it was a random act of violence as there were no prior interactions between Ms. Ellis and the victims.
North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones expressed her condolences and described the incident as a “terrible tragedy for our entire community.” She extended her support to the grieving family and commended the swift response of the police department and first responders in handling the situation. Giant Eagle, the supermarket chain where the attack took place, also offered counseling services to its employees and expressed its sympathy for the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time.
