On May 21, a shocking incident took place in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a man was apprehended by the Lincoln Police for stealing a StarTran bus driver’s backpack containing a substantial sum of $10,000 in cash. The suspect, identified as 69-year-old Vincent Whitemagpie, committed the theft and disembarked the bus near the intersection of 11th and N streets, leaving the driver in disbelief.

The authorities were alerted to the incident on May 22 at 8:10 p.m. and promptly launched an investigation into the matter. Through careful examination of security footage, Whitemagpie was identified as the culprit behind the brazen theft. Subsequently, he was taken into custody without resistance on Sunday around 12:30 p.m.

During the arrest, law enforcement officers managed to recover over $7,800 in cash from Whitemagpie’s possession, but a substantial amount of over $2,100 remains unaccounted for. In addition to the stolen cash, the suspect was also found in possession of a methamphetamine pipe, further complicating the case.

Following his arrest, Whitemagpie was transferred to the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more, as well as possession of a controlled substance. The authorities are continuing their investigation to recover the missing funds and gather more evidence against the suspect.
