The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) has announced the arrest of two individuals on drug and firearm charges following a complaint about a suspicious vehicle in the Oak Grove area near Natchitoches.

According to NPSO, on May 20 around 5 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a vehicle parked by the storage buildings behind Sibley Lake One Stop in the 900 block of Hwy 504. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a black 1990 Mazda passenger car parked near a partially open storage unit, with two individuals, identified as Truitt D. Hamm, 20, of Provencal, and Kimberly D. Oliver, 37, of Natchitoches, nearby.

The suspects appeared nervous and provided conflicting statements about their presence at the storage buildings. NPSO detected a strong marijuana odor and called for additional units for backup.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a suspected marijuana cigar in a door pocket, a large black bag containing individually packaged bags of suspected marijuana, and a backpack with additional bags of suspected marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia and digital weighing scales. Additionally, a clear cellophane bag containing methamphetamine and alprazolam pills was discovered. The total weight of the seized marijuana was approximately 1.7 pounds.

Furthermore, a Glock 42 semi-automatic handgun, reported stolen to the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, was found in the vicinity.

Truitt D. Hamm was charged with Possession of CDS Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of CDS Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of CDS Schedule IV Alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances. Kimberly D. Oliver was charged with possession of CDS Schedule II methamphetamine.

Both suspects were taken into custody and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. The seized evidence will be submitted to the crime lab for further analysis, and the investigation is ongoing.
