Tarez Lee Matthew Williams : “Teen Killed in Stolen Car Crash”

DES MOINES, Iowa — Tragedy struck once again as the fourth teen involved in a stolen car crash has passed away, according to authorities. The incident, which occurred on May 22, has left the community reeling from the loss of these young lives.

It all began when a detective from the Des Moines Police Department spotted a stolen vehicle near 9th Street and Center Street. The stolen car then made its way into McRae Park, located at 1021 Davis Avenue. Shortly after, a marked patrol car entered the park in pursuit of the stolen vehicle.

Upon seeing the patrol car, the driver of the stolen car attempted to flee the scene at a high speed along Davis Avenue. However, the reckless attempt ended in tragedy when the stolen car crashed in the 600 block of Davis Avenue. Initial investigations revealed that the car collided with a curb, causing it to veer off the road and collide with a tree.

Tragically, there were four teenagers inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. One of the teens succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other three were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, two of the hospitalized teens passed away two days after the crash. On Monday, authorities confirmed the heartbreaking news that the fourth teen had also lost their battle for life on Friday, May 31.

The teens involved in the tragic incident have been identified as 18-year-old Jamarian Jackson, 15-year-old Eric Vortes Jr., 15-year-old James JT Taylor III, and 18-year-old Tarez Lee Matthew Williams. Their untimely deaths have left a deep impact on their families, friends, and the wider community.

As the community mourns the loss of these young lives, authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stolen car crash.
