Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has revealed the identities of the two officers involved in the recent tragic incident in Minneapolis. Nick Kapinos discharged his department-issued handgun, while Luke Kittock used his department rifle during the confrontation with the suspect.

Officer Jamal Mitchell was the first to respond to a shots fired call at an apartment complex on Blaisdell Avenue. Upon arrival, Mitchell encountered two injured men, one of whom was later identified as 35-year-old Mustafa Mohamed. Tragically, Mitchell was shot by Mohamed and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Kapinos and Kittock arrived at the scene while Mohamed was still firing at Mitchell, prompting the officers to return fire and ultimately fatally wound Mohamed.

Unfortunately, Mohamed’s injuries were fatal, and he passed away on the scene. Kittock sustained injuries during the exchange but has since been discharged from the hospital. Both Kapinos and Kittock, who have 10 and 9 years of law enforcement experience respectively, are currently on critical incident leave.

In addition to the officers involved, a firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident. Furthermore, a bystander who was shot remains in critical but stable condition at the hospital. Upon searching the apartment building, authorities discovered two additional victims, one of whom, Osman Said Jimale, tragically passed away from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, reviewing footage from body cameras and squad car cameras. This investigation aims to shed light on the events leading up to the tragic outcome and provide closure to the affected parties.
