HYDERABAD: The Indian community in the United States is facing yet another worrying situation as 23-year-old student Niteesha Kandula from Hyderabad has gone missing in California. Authorities have been actively searching for her for the past week, hoping for her safe return.

Niteesha Kandula is a student at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), and was last seen on May 28 in Los Angeles. Concerns were raised when she failed to contact her family or friends, prompting the university to reach out to the local police for assistance in locating her.

Local authorities in Los Angeles have issued a missing person alert, urging the public to come forward with any information that could help find Niteesha Kandula. She was last seen in Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 28, although the exact whereabouts remain unclear, according to CSUSB Police Chief John Gutierrez.

A photo of Kandula has been shared by the police on social media platforms, highlighting that she may be driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla with license plate number 9KXU509.

This incident follows a series of similar cases involving Indian-origin individuals in the United States. Last month, Rupesh Chandra from Telangana went missing in Chicago, with his current location still unknown. In March, Mohammed Abdul Arafat, a resident of Hyderabad, was reported missing and tragically found deceased in a lake in Cleveland, Ohio a month later. Arafat had been abducted by a drug gang in Cleveland and had reached out to his father for help.
