Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Nolanville resident who hurled a knife at a Killeen Police Department officer in 2022 has been handed a prison sentence. Mouwandu Lavonte Hudson Jr. was indicted on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated assault against a public servant on November 2, 2022. However, in a recent court hearing at the 264th Judicial District Court, Hudson entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge of assault of a public servant, a third-degree felony. The presiding judge, Paul LePak, subsequently convicted the 28-year-old Hudson and sentenced him to two years behind bars, as per Bell County court records.

Hudson was incarcerated on August 5, 2022, and was still being detained without bail as of Saturday. The incident that led to his arrest occurred on August 3, 2022, when Killeen police received a report of an individual wielding a knife in the 4800 block of Trimmier Road. The caller alleged that the suspect had thrown a knife at him before fleeing the scene on foot, according to an arrest affidavit.

Subsequently, two officers on patrol in the vicinity spotted a man matching the suspect’s description near Lions Club Park. Despite being ordered to halt, the man, later identified as Hudson, continued to walk away. The officers noticed Hudson holding a box cutter knife and instructed him to drop it. Ignoring their commands, Hudson flung the knife at one of the officers while shouting an expletive. Fortunately, the officer managed to dodge the projectile.

Hudson then advanced towards the other officer, prompting the deployment of a Taser, which caused him to fall. Despite attempts to rise again, Hudson was subdued and detained by the officers. In an unrelated case heard in Bell County this week, 23-year-old Jordan Wesley Glidden of Harker Heights was sentenced to prison for a sex crime committed in 2016 when he was 15 years old.

Glidden faced charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by contact, but opted to plead guilty to the latter charge. Judge Wade Faulkner sentenced him to five years in prison. The incidents involving a female victim under the age of 14 occurred on June 15, 2016, and July 1, 2016, in Heights. The case was transferred from juvenile to adult criminal court on March 15, 2023.

Additionally, a 44-year-old woman, Amanda Elizabeth Gibson of Killeen, was handed a probation sentence for breaking into a man’s home and stealing laundry detergent and his car last year. Gibson pleaded guilty to a second-degree felony charge of burglary of a habitation and was sentenced to eight years of deferred adjudication probation. She will also have to serve 40 days in the Bell County Jail as part of the work release program and complete 500 hours of community service. Gibson was incarcerated on October 21, 2023, and remained in jail as of Saturday morning.

The burglary incident took place on June 12, 2023, at a residence on Patton Road, where intruders gained access through an unlocked window, ransacked the kitchen, and made off with laundry detergent, car keys, and the vehicle from the garage. Police later apprehended Gibson in the stolen vehicle, with the pilfered detergent found inside..
