DALLAS — Tragedy struck in southern Dallas on Sunday as a man lost his life in a swiftwater incident, according to authorities.
The incident took place when Dallas police received a distressing report of a vehicle plunging into a pond near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Bruton Road around 2:27 p.m. The caller, who alerted emergency services, expressed concern as they did not witness the driver emerging from the submerged vehicle.
Responding swiftly to the scene, Dallas Fire-Rescue’s expert swift water personnel managed to extract the man from the car. Immediate CPR was administered in an attempt to revive him, but sadly, he remained unresponsive. The man was swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital, where he tragically passed away, as confirmed by the police.
The deceased individual has since been identified as 51-year-old Jose Tamez-Prado by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office.
As the investigation into the tragic incident continues, Dallas police have refrained from providing further details at this time.
