A 33-year-old man was taken into custody by the authorities on Sunday, June 2, in Makati City for unlawful possession of firearms, according to the Makati City Police.
The suspect, known as “Jonathan” and a resident of Barangay Olympia in Makati, was apprehended at a checkpoint. Police officers conducting an Oplan Sita operation in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo stopped Jonathan while he was riding his motorcycle. The stop was due to several traffic violations, including the unauthorised use of a blinker, failure to wear a safety helmet, and operating a motorcycle without side mirrors.
Upon conducting a routine verification process, the officers noticed a pistol tucked into Jonathan’s waist. They requested his firearm documentation, which he was unable to provide.

Upon further inspection, the authorities discovered a .45 caliber Colt pistol without a serial number, accompanied by a fully loaded magazine containing live ammunition.
“Jonathan will face charges for Violation of R.A. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition. He is currently in the custody of Makati CPS,” the police stated.
