Law enforcement officers at the Irvine Spectrum shopping centre encountered the individual, known as 31-year-old Johnny Lucero Berlino from Huntington Beach, in a parking lot where the vehicle he was operating was flagged for displaying a missing or stolen number plate, as per a recent announcement from the Irvine Police Department on Facebook.

Upon further investigation, authorities uncovered stolen mail and credit cards within the vehicle, in addition to an unreported stolen car and £2,700 in counterfeit notes.

It is suspected that Berlino used the fake currency to purchase the stolen vehicle.
