Jesus Regueira Jr. : “Police ID Victims in Miami Murder-Suicide”

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – Shock and disbelief have gripped the community in Southwest Miami-Dade after a tragic incident unfolded at a home, resulting in the deaths of an elderly woman and three others in what police suspect to be a triple murder-suicide.

Residents of the area near Southwest 137th Court, close to 47th Street, were left reeling after the disturbing discovery was made on Sunday afternoon. The grim scene was unearthed by a family friend who had accompanied police officers to the residence in Kendale Lakes.

The harrowing chain of events began when a concerned family member contacted authorities, expressing worry over not being able to reach anyone at the home. The police were summoned to conduct a welfare check on a hospice patient, only to stumble upon a grim reality inside the house.

“Check on the welfare, reference the complainant hasn’t heard from his parents in the last three days,” a dispatcher relayed over Broadcastify police scanner. The urgency of the situation was evident as officers tried to establish contact with the occupants of the dwelling.

Upon entering the property, law enforcement officers were met with a scene of unimaginable horror – one victim had been fatally shot. Further distressing details emerged as additional concerns were raised by a social worker from the hospice, prompting a swift response from the authorities.

Identifying the Victims

The somber task of identifying the deceased was undertaken by Miami-Dade Police on Monday afternoon. The perpetrator of the tragic events was identified as 62-year-old Jesus Regueira Jr.

The victims were revealed to be 61-year-old Kerstyn Marie Stahre, Regueira Jr.’s girlfriend, along with 83-year-old Jesus Regueira, Sr. and 84-year-old Mercedes Morato, Regueira Jr.’s parents. The devastating discovery of Regueira Jr. with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a firearm nearby pointed towards a grim conclusion.

All four individuals had been residing together in the same household, a fact that added to the shock and bewilderment felt by neighbours and acquaintances. Joanna Cruz, a neighbour who was deeply affected by the tragic events, expressed her disbelief and sorrow at the loss of her mother’s friends.

“I feel like I’m in a nightmare because it’s unpleasant to see that and the elderly woman that was a beautiful soul, a beautiful person,” Cruz reflected. The sight inside the home, once filled with warmth and companionship, now bore the marks of a tragedy that had shattered the lives of those involved.

As Cruz recounted her interactions with the deceased and their family dynamics, the gravity of the situation became even more pronounced. The sense of loss and devastation permeated the neighbourhood, leaving a lingering sense of unease and sorrow.
