SRI AMAN: Fatal Accident Claims Local Man’s Life and Injures Three Others
A tragic incident unfolded this afternoon in Sri Aman, as a collision between two vehicles along Jalan Sri Aman-Betong resulted in the loss of a local man’s life and left three others injured. The accident took place at approximately 2.15pm and involved a Toyota Fortuner carrying four individuals and a Perodua Myvi driven by an elderly woman.
Upon receiving an emergency call, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) swiftly responded by dispatching firefighters from the Sri Aman station to the scene of the collision. The Fortuner had overturned in the aftermath of the crash, leading to extrication efforts to free the trapped driver from the vehicle.
Tragically, the driver of the Fortuner, identified as Jee Choon Vui, aged 47, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, with paramedics declaring him deceased. His body was subsequently transported to the hospital for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the three other occupants of the Fortuner, a 46-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old boy, were rescued from the vehicle by passersby. Despite sustaining minor injuries, they were promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Fortunately, the 66-year-old driver of the Perodua Myvi emerged unscathed from the collision.
The operation to clear the accident debris and restore normalcy to the road concluded at 4.30pm, marking the end of a harrowing ordeal for all involved.
