A resident of Beardstown, Illinois, has been taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder following a tragic incident.
Arrest of Jean C. Santiago-Nieves
The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4 apprehended 37-year-old Jean C. Santiago-Nieves in connection with the case.
Discovery of Victim
On the evening of Friday, May 31, officers from the Beardstown Police Department were dispatched to a 911 call at a property located in the 1400 block of Clay Street in Beardstown. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a deceased individual inside a vehicle near the residence.
Identity of the Deceased
The victim has since been identified as 27-year-old Steve Dominguez, a resident of Beardstown.
Investigation by ISP
The Beardstown Police Department requested the assistance of the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4 to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Steve Dominguez. The suspect, Jean C. Santiago-Nieves, was apprehended at the scene and taken into custody without incident.
Charge of First-Degree Murder
Following a comprehensive investigation, the Illinois State Police presented their findings to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office, which approved a charge of first-degree murder against Santiago-Nieves. He is currently being held at the Schuyler County Jail pending his initial court appearance.
