RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Coroner Identifies Victim in Tragic Tractor Trailer Accident
The Richland County Coroner, Naida Rutherford, has officially named the individual who tragically lost his life in a harrowing incident involving a tractor-trailer in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The fatal collision occurred off I-20 near mile marker 79 in Richland County on June 1st, at approximately 5:19 a.m.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of a GMC vehicle had come to a stop eastbound on I-20 due to running out of fuel.
Tragically, a 2019 Freightliner traveling in the same direction on I-20 collided with both the stationary GMC and the driver who had exited the vehicle.
Coroner Rutherford has identified the victim as Christopher D. Hagan, a 38-year-old resident of Lancaster.
In a statement, Coroner Rutherford expressed, “We are committed to collaborating closely with the South Carolina Highway Patrol to conduct a thorough investigation into this tragic accident.”
