GAITHERSBURG, MD—Tragedy struck in Gaithersburg early Saturday morning as a collision between a motorcycle and a car claimed the life of a local man. The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, which occurred at the intersection of University Blvd West and Kerwin Rd.
The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Brian Antonio Martinez Gamez, a resident of Silver Spring. Martinez Gamez was riding a black and green 2019 Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle, travelling eastbound on University Blvd West towards Kerwin Road. Unfortunately, a white 2023 Tesla Model 3, turning left from northbound Kerwin Road onto westbound University Blvd West, collided with Martinez Gamez’s motorcycle. Despite his efforts to avoid the vehicle, Martinez Gamez collided with the driver’s side of the Tesla and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene following the tragic incident. More details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
