Accident – Death – Obituary News : A former Fillmore minister has recently pleaded guilty to charges related to an online sex case, sending shockwaves through the Ventura County community. Barry Don Fike, 68, was arrested last July after engaging in explicit online conversations with an individual he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. In reality, the individual was an undercover officer. Fike shared explicit photos of himself and arranged to meet with the supposed minor for lewd purposes. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office revealed these disturbing details in a recent news release.

Fike, who previously served as a minister at Fillmore Church of Christ and taught at Oaks Christian High School and Pepperdine University, is set to be sentenced at 9 a.m. on July 15 in courtroom 11 of the Ventura County Superior Court. The lack of safety features in the chatroom Fike used allowed him to freely communicate with the undercover officer without verifying the person’s age or monitoring the nature of the conversations.

In another shocking incident, four individuals have been charged in connection with an illegal gambling operation in Simi Valley. The defendants face multiple felony charges, including pimping, pandering, bookmaking, and money laundering. The sophisticated nature of the operation has raised concerns among law enforcement officials in the area.

Simi Valley police launched an investigation into a suspected illegal gambling operation following a tip-off last August. The investigation led to the discovery of illegal gambling, prostitution, and drug-related activities taking place at a residence in the 1800 block of Marcella Street in Simi Valley. Search warrants were executed on May 28, resulting in the arrest of five individuals and the citation of 40 others for their involvement in the illicit activities.

These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and oversight in online interactions and local operations. The Ventura County community remains vigilant in addressing such crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents. Stay tuned for further updates on these ongoing cases..
