Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 37-year-old Jamaican woman, identified as Ashley Smith from Mount Vernon, met a tragic end early Saturday morning in the Bronx when her throat was slashed. The police have not made any arrests in connection with her death and have not provided a motive for the killing.

According to alleged eyewitnesses in the Bronx, Smith was involved in an altercation with another woman, which escalated and led to her throat being slashed on the street. News reports indicate that Smith was found outside a Bronx building with a deep wound to her neck on Saturday.

Officers responded to a call of an assault in progress around 6:10 a.m. and discovered Smith outside a two-family home on Oakley Street near E. 219th Street in Williamsbridge. She was unconscious and suffering from the severe neck wound. Emergency Medical Services rushed Smith to Jacobi Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after.

The New York Daily News quoted a neighbour who mentioned that the house near where the incident occurred was known for hosting wild parties despite the otherwise peaceful nature of the street. The neighbour expressed frustration with the recurring issues in the area and the lack of effective intervention by the authorities.

Authorities are currently in the process of obtaining surveillance footage that could potentially help identify the perpetrator responsible for Smith’s violent death.
