A shocking incident unfolded in Mission, Texas, as a man allegedly shot his uncle to death in a dispute over ownership of two pet roosters.

According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Aaron Cervantes, 21, and a family member visited a home to claim the roosters that he believed belonged to him.

During the altercation, Cervantes and his uncle, identified as Fernando Madrid, engaged in a heated argument over the ownership of the roosters, leading to a tragic outcome.

Law enforcement officials responded to the scene on Doffing Road in the early hours of the morning, where they discovered Madrid shot inside the residence.

Tragically, Madrid, aged 54, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, marking a devastating turn of events for the family.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Aaron Cervantes, the nephew of the victim, was taken into custody and charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting.

Subsequent investigations led to Cervantes being held in a county jail on a $2 million bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.

Another individual present at the scene, identified as a male family member accompanying Cervantes, was released after being cleared of any criminal involvement.

During a court appearance, Justice of Peace Jerry Muñoz set Cervantes’ bond at $2 million, underscoring the severity of the charges he faces in connection with his uncle’s death.

The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full details of the dispute over the roosters and the events that led to the fatal shooting.
