Marion County Man Arrested for Allegedly Being in Possession of Stolen Gun
A 37-year-old convicted felon from Marion County is facing felony charges after allegedly being found loitering outside a local bar with a stolen gun in his possession.
Suspicious Activity Leads to Arrest
On Wednesday, 29th May, around 11:35 p.m., two deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious man outside the Pig Pen Saloon in Fort McCoy. The business owner had noticed a shirtless man covered in tattoos lingering around the premises, which were under renovation. The man, later identified as Roy Alex Bebee, was reportedly seen holding a black weapon.
Before the deputies arrived, the MCSO Air One unit spotted Bebee near the dock area of the bar. He then moved into a wooded area across the street before returning to the location where he was approached by the deputies.
Discovery of Stolen Firearm
During the encounter, Bebee claimed he had permission to be at the location from the person renovating the business. However, a spent 9mm shell casing was found in the area where he was seen, and a black Taurus 9mm pistol was discovered in the nearby woods, later confirmed to be reported stolen in Marion County in October 2022.
Bebee, who has a prior felony conviction for dealing in stolen property, denied any knowledge of the firearm and was subsequently arrested. He is currently held at Marion County Jail on a $15,000 bond, facing charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, using a firearm during a felony, and grand theft of a firearm.
Legal Proceedings
Bebee’s court date has been scheduled for Tuesday, 2nd July at 9 a.m., as per jail records. The case highlights the importance of law enforcement efforts in tackling illegal possession of firearms in Marion County.
