Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Kochi: Bellamkonda Ram Prasad, also known as Prathapan (41), has been apprehended by Kerala police in Hyderabad for his alleged involvement in an international human trafficking network that revolves around organ harvesting. Sources within the police department have disclosed that Prathapan posed as a doctor, introducing himself to his mainly uneducated village victims as Dr Ram Prasad. Operating from a building in Khairatabad, Hyderabad, Prathapan utilized the ground floor clinic of Dr BVS Ram Prasad as a front for his illicit activities.

Prathapan’s role in the criminal enterprise primarily focused on identifying potential organ donors and preparing them for organ harvesting procedures in Iran. Victims were predominantly sourced from states such as Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. Following the donors’ dispatch to Iran, Keralite Sabith Nasar took charge of the subsequent operations, exposing the shocking truth behind the international organ transplant syndicate. The racket enticed donors with payments of up to Rs 8 lakhs, while charging recipients between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 1 crore for the entire package, inclusive of surgical expenses.

Interrogation in Kerala

Prathapan has been transported to Kerala and is currently under interrogation by Ernakulam Rural SP Vaibhav Saxena. A clandestine police operation led to Prathapan’s arrest as he attempted to flee Hyderabad, taking refuge in a local hotel. In addition to Sabith and Prathapan, authorities have apprehended Sajith Shyam, suspected of managing the gang’s financial operations. Investigations have uncovered a shell company operated by Sabith, Sajith, and Madhu from Kochi, where proceeds from organ sales were invested.

Next Target: Madhu

With the capture of three key individuals, the investigative team’s next objective is to locate Madhu, believed to be currently in Iran. Efforts to repatriate Madhu to India are already in progress, as he is responsible for liaising with hospitals and medical practitioners in Iran.

Revelations about the trafficking network surfaced following Sabith’s arrest at Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) based on information from central agencies. All suspects have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994. A thorough inquiry, overseen by a team led by the Ernakulam Rural SP, is underway.
