PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 25-year-old man is facing a series of charges after allegedly kidnapping a 47-year-old woman in Southeast Portland in the early hours of Friday, according to police reports.
The incident unfolded around 1:40 a.m. on May 31 when the suspect encountered the woman near SE 146th and Division and offered her a ride home. However, things took a dark turn when they reached SE 112th, as the woman attempted to exit the vehicle. Despite her efforts, the driver, later identified as Ra Fet, accelerated and prevented her from escaping.
During the drive, a struggle ensued between the woman and the 5-foot-6, 115-pound man. Reports indicate that the suspect physically assaulted the victim, striking her in the face. Eventually, at the intersection of SE 112th and Lincoln, the woman managed to leap out of the moving car and flee on foot, sustaining injuries in the process.
Frantically seeking help, the woman was discovered by law enforcement officers concealed in a nearby driveway.
Approximately 40 minutes later, police located Fet’s vehicle at NE 82nd and Beech, leading to his apprehension and subsequent arrest.
Subsequently, Ra Fet was taken into custody and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of kidnapping, sexual abuse, coercion, menacing, assault, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.
The victim received medical attention for cuts and bruises sustained during the ordeal.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident and urge anyone with pertinent information to reach out to Portland police.
