A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Bhopal for allegedly strangling his wife to death after suspecting her of having an affair. The man, identified as Nadeem Uddin, reportedly took the body in his auto-rickshaw, burnt it, and then buried it near a dump yard in the city.
The tragic incident occurred on May 21, and Nadeem Uddin was taken into custody by the Nishatpura police on Saturday. According to sub-inspector MD Ahirwar, who is leading the investigation, some unburnt body parts of the 22-year-old victim have been recovered and sent for examination.
Prior to her death, the woman had been staying at her parents’ home in Murli Nagar following a tumultuous relationship with her husband. Her parents raised an alarm when she went missing on May 21, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, citing suspicions of his wife’s alleged involvement with another man. He revealed that on the fateful day, he lured his wife to Karond crossing, where a confrontation ensued, leading to her tragic demise.
After committing the heinous act, the accused transported the body to a remote location in his auto-rickshaw, where he set it ablaze before burying it near a waste dump. The police have charged him under Indian Penal Code section 302 and are conducting further investigations into the case.
