Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident unfolded in Sheopur district as a boat carrying passengers capsized in the Seep River, leading to the untimely demise of seven individuals, including three children. The heartbreaking event took place at approximately 4 pm on Saturday evening in the Saroda village area, falling under the Maanpur police station’s jurisdiction.
Reports indicate that the boat, which was transporting 11 passengers, overturned due to strong gusts of wind, resulting in the loss of seven lives. Fortunately, four individuals were able to swim to safety along the river banks.

Upon receiving the distressing news, rescue operations were promptly initiated by the local police, administration, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team.
Following an exhaustive four-hour search and rescue mission, the bodies of all seven deceased individuals were recovered from the river. The victims hailed from Badouda and Vijaypur and have been identified as Surajmal (25), Kanhararam (16), Ramvatar (15), Ramavatar’s 4-year-old son, Parshuram’s 10-year-old son, Parshuram’s 8-year-old son, and Parshuram Mali Parvanta’s wife.
The authorities have confirmed the tragic loss of lives and have announced financial aid amounting to Rs 4 lakhs for each of the families affected by this devastating incident.
