Redwood City Resident Arrested for Carjacking Incident

(KRON) – A Redwood City resident and parolee found himself in hot water after attempting to carjack a vehicle, as reported by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident took place around 6 p.m. on Saturday, when the suspect, a man whose identity was later revealed as 27-year-old Josue A. Hernandez, tried to carjack a vehicle but was unsuccessful. Undeterred, he then jumped into the front passenger seat of another vehicle to force the driver to make a U-turn at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Pacific Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office. Subsequently, the suspect fled the scene. 

Law enforcement deputies swiftly responded to the situation, surrounding the area and managing to locate Hernandez near 4th Avenue and Middlefield Road. Following his apprehension, Hernandez was taken into custody and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges of carjacking, kidnapping, and parole violation. 

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and it was noted by the sheriff’s office that no weapons were utilized during the carjacking attempt.
