Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from Harrison was apprehended after a distressing altercation involving a flipped-over couch while the victim was seated on it.

The incident, which took place on May 3rd, prompted a response from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office following a report of a domestic dispute. The caller informed dispatchers that her husband, identified as 24-year-old Dreyton Hamilton, had aggressively rammed his vehicle into the left side of hers and physically assaulted her before departing for work.

Upon reaching the scene, the victim recounted the events to authorities, detailing how the situation escalated when Hamilton couldn’t locate his cigarette vape within their home. She mentioned that she was seated on the couch when Hamilton inquired about her sitting on it. Subsequently, he proceeded to flip the couch over while she was still occupying it. In addition, the victim, who was 25 weeks pregnant, disclosed that Hamilton had struck her in the face during the altercation. Following this, Hamilton exited the residence, got into his truck, and intentionally collided with the front passenger side of her vehicle. Law enforcement officers noted red marks on the victim’s right cheek.

Deputies later visited Hamilton at his workplace to inform him of the reported argument with his wife earlier that day. Hamilton claimed that the victim had threatened to sell his truck in order to purchase items, leading to the confrontation. He admitted to overturning the couch in search of his vape and work tools, asserting that he had requested the victim to move several times before resorting to flipping the furniture while she was seated. Hamilton denied physically assaulting the victim, stating that the results would have been evident if he had indeed done so.

Hamilton was subsequently taken into custody and booked at the Boone County Detention Center. He faces a felony charge of domestic battery and a misdemeanor charge of assault on a family or household member. Following his arrest, Hamilton was granted release on a $5,000 bond.

This incident underscores the importance of addressing domestic disputes in a peaceful and lawful manner, emphasizing the need for respectful and non-violent interactions within relationships. The authorities have taken appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of those involved, while also holding the perpetrator accountable for his actions..
