A shocking incident unfolded in Florida as a 16-year-old boy, Alexander Warren Hernandez, carried out a premeditated attack that resulted in the tragic death of a 15-year-old victim and left an adult critically injured.

Undersheriff Pat Breeden stated, “This was undoubtedly a premeditated and targeted attack. Alexander informed detectives that he had ordered the two weapons online. Upon their arrival on Saturday, he unpacked the weapons, familiarized himself with them, and then walked nearly six miles to the victim’s residence.”

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the harrowing events transpired around 10:11 PM when Hernandez, armed with a scythe and a pocket knife, arrived unannounced at the home where the 15-year-old victim, Connor Michael Gill, was having a sleepover.

Hernandez, who had recently purchased the weapons online, reportedly walked 6 miles to the residence, knocked on the door, and forcibly entered once the victim opened it.

Once inside, Hernandez launched a violent assault, fatally stabbing Connor Michael Gill. A 48-year-old man present in the house rushed to intervene and was also attacked by Hernandez, sustaining critical injuries. Additionally, Hernandez is said to have menaced a third individual during the incident.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, providing urgent medical care to the two victims. Tragically, Connor Michael Gill was airlifted to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries at 1:19 AM. The adult victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, remains in critical but stable condition in the ICU.

Following the attack, Hernandez fled on foot but was swiftly apprehended with the aid of a sheriff’s office helicopter. He was found in possession of the weapons believed to have been used in the stabbing.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has charged Hernandez with premeditated first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and armed burglary. Further charges may be added as the investigation progresses.

The motive behind Hernandez’s actions remains unclear, prompting investigators to delve deeper into the circumstances that led to this tragic event. Both the victim and the suspect had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools and were receiving homeschooling, as per sheriff’s deputies.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, either directly to the sheriff’s office or through the Crimeline anonymous reporting system.
