Jaipur: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Bikaner as a 15-year-old boy tragically ended his life by jumping into the Indira Gandhi Canal under the Mahajan police station area. The young boy, identified as Wahid Khan, took this drastic step after receiving second division marks in the Class 10 board exam conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE).
The RBSE had declared the board results recently, and Wahid was devastated by his performance, as he scored 57% marks, which he perceived as insufficient. Following the announcement of the results on Wednesday, Wahid expressed his disappointment to his family members and left his home in Mahajan area, leaving them concerned about his whereabouts.
Upon realizing that Wahid was missing, his family members initiated a search for him. Their worst fears were confirmed when they discovered his slippers at the Malkisar pumping station of the Indira Gandhi Canal. Subsequently, they informed the police, who promptly launched a search operation with the assistance of police divers.
Tragically, Wahid’s lifeless body was discovered near the Mokhampura area at 10 pm on Thursday evening. The authorities retrieved his body and transferred it to the mortuary of the government hospital in Mahajan. Following the completion of the post-mortem examination, Wahid’s remains were handed over to his grief-stricken family on Friday.
According to police reports, Wahid did not confide in anyone before leaving his home, indicating that his decision to take his own life was premeditated. The investigating officers have classified the incident as a clear case of suicide, shedding light on the immense pressure and emotional turmoil that young students often experience during exam periods.
Wahid’s father, Hanif Khan Sheikh, resides in Saudi Arabia and is engaged in farming activities. The devastating loss of his son has undoubtedly left the family shattered and in mourning.
