Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A Bellingham resident found himself in hot water during his arraignment in Kittitas County Superior Court on Friday. Shaun Travis Jackson, aged 35, is facing serious charges related to a high-speed chase that spanned three counties last June, involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

The felony accusation against Jackson is for eluding police, with additional charges of endangering others and reckless driving. He is also charged with driving the wrong way on the highway and driving with a suspended license. Despite the charges, Jackson pleaded not guilty to all counts during his arraignment on May 31.

Judge L. Candace Hooper mentioned that authorities had previously attempted to summon Jackson to court without success, leading to his current custody in Walla Walla. During the arraignment, Jackson claimed that he had already admitted guilt in a court hearing in Yakima for the same incident he was now facing charges for in Kittitas County.

Deputy Prosecutor Patricia Todd requested a bail amount of $100,000, citing Jackson’s criminal history that includes multiple felonies and misdemeanors, as well as outstanding warrants. Judge Hooper agreed to set the bail at the requested amount, warning Jackson that bailing out would likely result in immediate transfer to another jurisdiction.

The events leading to Jackson’s arrest began on June 15 when police started searching for him after he allegedly stole items from a store in Union Gap and pointed a gun at a witness. Driving a stolen red Dodge Dakota, Jackson led law enforcement on a high-speed chase across multiple counties, reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph.

During the pursuit, Jackson’s erratic driving included entering the highway in the wrong direction and driving across medians. Law enforcement eventually called off the chase after Jackson exited onto various highways, with Kittitas County deputies handing over the pursuit to Grant County authorities.

With a history of criminal activity and multiple jurisdictions involved, Shaun Travis Jackson faces a challenging legal battle as he navigates the charges brought against him in Kittitas County. The outcome of the case remains uncertain as the legal proceedings continue.
