A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Vasai, Palghar district, as a two-and-a-half-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling into an open drain near his residence on Saturday, according to a civic official.
The unfortunate incident occurred in the Lohia slum colony at Umale Phata, as confirmed by the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation fire brigade official.
“The young child, identified as Narendra Goriwale, accidentally wandered towards the water-filled nullah while his parents were away at work and his grandmother was preoccupied with cooking. Tragically, he slipped and fell into the drain, with his lifeless body being discovered by concerned neighbours after his grandmother raised an alarm upon not finding him at home,” the official stated.
Following the distressing incident, an accidental death report has been filed, with authorities at Vasai police station initiating a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise.
