Accident – Death – Obituary News : SAN ANGELO, TX — In the early hours of this morning, a fleet of San Angelo Police Department Ford Interceptors descended upon the Stripes Convenience Store located at 1322 S. Bryant Blvd. The sight of nine police cars surrounding the area immediately caught the attention of onlookers.
The Interceptors strategically positioned themselves behind the Stripes store and around the Cross Keys Apartments, creating a sense of urgency in the air. One particular focus of the operation was a black Jeep SUV parked at the gas pumps, seemingly innocuous but soon to be at the center of the unfolding events.
The target of the police operation was 27-year-old Mikayla Menzies, whose legal troubles trace back to an incident at the Walmart SuperCenter on Sherwood Way in August 2022. Menzies was apprehended by Walmart security attempting to leave the store with stolen items concealed in her purse. Law enforcement was called to the scene, and Menzies was detained after a brief attempt to walk away.
During a subsequent search, police discovered a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance, later identified as methamphetamine, hidden in Menzies’ bra. Additionally, a gold container with two small plastic bags was found, one containing Diazepam and the other heroin. These discoveries led to Menzies facing charges of possession and theft of property.
After a legal process that saw charges dropped and dismissed, Menzies eventually pleaded guilty to state jail felonies and was sentenced to three years of probation. However, her failure to comply with the terms of her probation, including a missed court date in December 2023, led to the revocation of her bond.
Fast forward to June 1, 2024, and Menzies’ run-in with the law continued as she was arrested at the Stripes Convenience Store. The police apprehended her for failing to appear at a mandatory court hearing and for violating the terms of her bond.
Currently, Menzies is being held at the Tom Green County Correctional Center, facing the consequences of her actions. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of following legal obligations and the repercussions of non-compliance.
