Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has officially identified the third individual who tragically lost their life during the violent incident that unfolded on Thursday evening. The deceased has been named as Mustafa Ahmed Mohamed, aged 35. While it is strongly suspected that Mohamed was the perpetrator of the shooting, this assumption has not yet been officially confirmed by authorities.
According to the medical examiner’s report, Mohamed succumbed to his injuries as a result of sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. The devastating incident also claimed the life of Officer Jamal Mitchell, who tragically passed away at the hospital due to the injuries he sustained during the altercation.
The harrowing sequence of events began when Officer Mitchell responded to a distress call at an apartment building located on the 2200 block of Blaisdell Avenue. Upon arrival, Mitchell immediately sprang into action to assist a man who had been injured in the street. Shockingly, this individual turned out to be the suspected shooter, who callously opened fire on Officer Mitchell.
Officer Mitchell, a dedicated 36-year-old father who was engaged to be married, had been a valued member of the police department since 2022. In addition to Officer Mitchell, another civilian named Osman Said Jimale, aged 32, lost his life in the shooting that took place inside the apartment building. Furthermore, another victim from the apartment building remains in critical condition.
During the chaotic incident, a second officer from the Minneapolis Police Department sustained injuries but has since been discharged from the hospital. Additionally, a civilian who was found shot while inside his vehicle and a Minneapolis firefighter who was injured during the exchange of gunfire have both been released from medical care.
In response to the tragic loss of Officer Mitchell, the MN 100 Club has swiftly approved a donation of $50,000 to support his grieving family. This generous gesture is in line with the organization’s commitment to providing financial assistance to the loved ones of fallen first responders. Furthermore, the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis, Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS), and the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) are actively collecting donations for Officer Mitchell’s family through the LELS Benevolent Fund.
As the community mourns the loss of Officer Mitchell and the other victims of this senseless act of violence, efforts are underway to provide support and assistance to those affected by this tragedy.
