CROSS CITY, Fla. (WCJB) – Authorities in Dixie County recently apprehended two individuals following a disturbance involving a rifle threat towards a juvenile in Cross City. The incident, which took place on NE 104 Street and SE 49 Ave, led to the arrest of Michael Yager, 18, and another individual in a white Kia SUV.
Following a call from Police Chief Jamey King, officers from the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office and Cross City Police Department swiftly responded to the scene. The following day, Chief King and Deputy Kelby Baxley located the suspects at a residence on Hwy 349, leading to a traffic stop.
During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered a loaded .223 caliber AR-15 style rifle, as well as illegal substances including cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana. Additionally, several pieces of drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle.
As a result of the search, Michael James Yager II was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of over 20 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the commission of a Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His accomplice, Harley Montana Hunt, 18, faced charges of Possession of Cocaine, Possession of over 20 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the commission of a Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both suspects are currently being held at Dixie County Jail pending further legal proceedings. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
