Accident – Death – Obituary News :

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at a Marathon gas station in Flint. The 25-year-old victim, who was shot at the corner of Saginaw Street and Avenue A, was rushed to Hurley Medical Center in critical condition after crashing on his way to seek medical help.

Police reports indicate that the alleged perpetrator, identified as Marcus Bond, returned to the gas station the following day in an attempt to obtain and conceal surveillance footage that purportedly captured him committing the crime.

“Based on the evidence gathered thus far, it appears that the victim was shot at the Marathon gas station following an altercation. This incident is part of a troubling pattern,” stated Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton.

Surveillance footage from the gas station depicted the victim engaging in a conversation with an individual outside a vehicle before the situation escalated.

“The disagreement stemmed from the victim intervening on behalf of his cousin, urging the assailant to cease bullying him,” Leyton explained.

The video footage further revealed the suspect brandishing a firearm and firing at the 25-year-old victim, identified as Quinn Dawkins. Subsequently, Dawkins drove away and collided with a tree.

“These kinds of altercations are increasingly turning violent. The individual who sought to do the right thing is now fighting for his life in a hospital bed,” remarked Leyton.

The following day, authorities were summoned back to the gas station as Bond returned, attempting to coerce the staff into surrendering the incriminating surveillance footage.

“His actions certainly did not work in his favour, did they?” Leyton quipped. “His return led to his arrest, enabling law enforcement to identify him as the assailant. He is currently detained in Genesee County Jail.”

Leyton disclosed that Bond is likely to face charges of assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in relation to the shooting. The charges could be elevated if the victim’s condition worsens.

In a separate legal matter, Bond faces federal charges for unlawful possession of ammunition as a convicted felon and illicit distribution, delivery, or possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
