Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A male suspect driving a stolen pickup truck led deputies on a high-speed pursuit from Phelan to Adelanto, where he was eventually apprehended earlier this week, according to officials.

The incident began around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday when a deputy attempted to stop a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck for traffic violations at the intersection of Colorado and Palmdale roads in Phelan, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, later identified as Hymie Torres, a 53-year-old resident of Adelanto, refused to comply with the deputy’s instructions, initiating a dangerous chase through the two towns.

“Torres displayed a complete disregard for the safety of the public,” stated the sheriff’s department in an official press release.

During the pursuit, Torres allegedly drove through intersections without adhering to stop signs and even drove on the wrong side of the road, endangering other motorists and pedestrians in the area.

After abandoning the stolen truck along Koala Road, Torres attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly located and apprehended with the assistance of a sheriff’s helicopter. The pickup truck had been reported stolen in Adelanto the previous month, officials confirmed.

Subsequently, Torres was booked on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, with bail set at £30,000 pending further legal proceedings.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of law enforcement efforts in maintaining public safety and upholding the law within local communities.
