SHREVEPORT, La. — A Shreveport resident, Cornelius Robertson, aged 31, was taken into custody by local law enforcement after allegedly fleeing from a routine traffic stop.
The incident occurred on May 25, at the junction of Broadway Avenue and Hollywood Avenue, where Shreveport police officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle Robertson was operating.
Upon being pulled over, Robertson decided to abscond from the scene on foot, managing to evade capture temporarily. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered an assault rifle, which they believe prompted Robertson’s flight from the police.
After a five-day search, SPD officers located Robertson on May 30 in the 200 block of Southern Loop and arrested him without any resistance. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and charged with multiple offences, including resisting arrest with force or violence and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
As of now, no bail has been set for Robertson, and he remains in police custody pending further legal proceedings.
