VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – In the early hours of Friday morning, a man was taken into custody after allegedly initiating a fire at an apartment complex in Visalia, according to the Visalia Police Department.

Swift Response by Authorities

Authorities, including the Visalia Fire Department and police officers, swiftly responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex located in the 300 block of East Oak Avenue around 2:15 a.m. The fire, which originated in a flowerbed next to the exterior wall, was promptly extinguished by residents, officers, and fire personnel. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident resulted in extensive damage to the exterior wall of the building.

Identification and Arrest of Suspect

Upon reviewing video surveillance footage, detectives were able to identify a man who intentionally set the fire. The suspect, named as 40-year-old Christopher Jones, was located and apprehended several hours after the incident. Jones was subsequently booked at the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility on suspicion of arson of an inhabited dwelling.
