Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Tragedy struck in the central Gaza Strip as a 13-year-old Palestinian, Abdul Qader al-Sarhi, lost his life due to starvation following the Israeli closure of the Rafah border crossing to humanitarian aid. The official news agency of Palestine, WAFA, reported the heartbreaking news on Saturday, revealing the devastating impact of Israel’s actions on innocent lives.

Rising death toll and worsening health situation

According to local medical sources cited by WAFA, the death toll from malnutrition and dehydration has now reached 37 in the Gaza Strip. The ongoing Israeli aggression in the southern city of Rafah has further worsened the health situation, with all hospitals in the area being out of service.

“The health situation in the Gaza Strip has gone from bad to worse, with the military offensive expanding in the city of Rafah and all its hospitals being out of service,” the sources lamented. They added, “The announced toll reflects only what reaches hospitals while dozens are dying silently as a result of famine, without being able to reach hospitals.”

Infant also succumbs to starvation

Tragically, a seven-month-old Palestinian infant named Fayez Abu Ataya also lost his life on Thursday in central Gaza due to the lack of milk and medicine caused by Israel’s crippling blockade. Fayez was filmed resembling a bare skeleton as he succumbed to starvation and died in his father’s arms at al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

Closure of Rafah crossing exacerbates humanitarian crisis

The Israeli regime’s closure of the Rafah crossing in recent weeks has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Despite international warnings, the lack of flow of life-saving supplies to thousands of displaced Palestinians in the besieged area has led to severe shortages in food, water, medication, and fuel.

Even the aid reaching the southern region of the enclave has been insufficient, particularly with the displacement of over 1.3 million people from northern Gaza to the south, notably to Rafah. The ongoing aggression by Israel, which began in October 2023, has resulted in the death of at least 36,379 Palestinians, most of them women and children, with 82,407 others injured.

As the world watches in horror, the innocent lives lost to starvation and malnutrition in Gaza serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for international intervention to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
