A 15-year-old boy from Woodbridge, Virginia, is facing charges after allegedly attempting to tamper with vehicles and assaulting a police officer. The incident took place in the early hours of May 26 near the intersection of Delaware Drive and Maryland Avenue.
Officers from the Prince William County Police Department were on patrol in the area when they noticed the teenage suspect trying to break into multiple vehicles. Upon approaching the individual, the officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. When they tried to apprehend him, the teenager put up a struggle but was eventually subdued without any major incident. One officer sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
Following discussions with Juvenile Court Services, formal charges were filed on May 28. The charges against the teenager include one count of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of vehicle tampering, and one count of public intoxication.
The case is now moving through the legal system, with a court date yet to be scheduled. The juvenile has been charged, and petitions have been filed as the legal proceedings continue.
