Chennai: A 28-year-old man met a gruesome fate at a birthday party in Movur village, Tiruvallur district, on Thursday night. The victim, identified as Sathish, was hacked to death by his friends after a heated argument.
Sathish, who resided at his sister’s house in MGR Nagar, attended the birthday celebration of a friend where things took a fatal turn. The party turned chaotic as some of the attendees got drunk, leading to a confrontation that ended in tragedy.
The following morning, villagers discovered Sathish’s lifeless body on the bund of a lake in Vengathur and promptly informed the authorities. Upon arriving at the scene, the police retrieved the body and transferred it to a government hospital for a postmortem examination.
Given the visible external injuries on the victim’s body, the Manavalan Nagar Police initiated a murder investigation. They have since detained the individuals who were present at the ill-fated party, believed to be responsible for the heinous crime.
