The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) was called upon by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office on September 4, 2023, to assist with a missing persons case that involved 21-year-old Samuel Crawford.

A collaborative effort between the OSBI, Payne County Sheriff’s Office, Stillwater Police Department, and Noble County Sheriff’s Office was initiated to locate Samuel Crawford. An aerial search conducted in Payne County on September 8 led to the discovery of parts of Crawford’s vehicle in Glencoe. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed, which ultimately led to the grim discovery of Crawford’s deceased body.

Following the discovery, 21-year-old Christopher Somers was apprehended and placed in the custody of the Payne County Jail. He faces charges of First Degree Murder, Desecration of a Human Corpse, and Operating a Chop Shop in relation to the case.

As the investigation progressed, OSBI special agents interviewed 52-year-old Michael Ritter. Based on the evidence gathered, Ritter was arrested on May 28, 2024, and placed in the Payne County Jail on charges mirroring those of Christopher Somers – First Degree Murder, Desecration of a Human Corpse, and Operating a Chop Shop.
