An Osceola resident, Keith Ball, finds himself in hot water after a disturbing incident involving a stabbing and a stolen vehicle. The 37-year-old man is now facing a slew of charges, including attempted murder, in connection with the violent altercation that took place earlier this week.
The incident unfolded on Monday night in the 10000 block of Douglas Road in eastern St. Joseph County. Police responded to a call at around 10 p.m. and discovered a 50-year-old man and a dog with severe injuries. The man had sustained multiple cuts, stab wounds, and internal injuries, while the dog had also been stabbed multiple times.
Eyewitnesses recounted that Ball fled the scene immediately after the attack, making a hasty getaway in a vehicle he had stolen from the property. The victim later revealed that he and Ball had been smoking methamphetamine together before the violent episode unfolded.
Remarkably, the victim credited the heroic actions of the dog for saving his life. The brave canine intervened in the attack, biting Ball and disrupting his attempts to inflict fatal harm.
Fortunately, both the man and the dog are expected to recover from their injuries. Meanwhile, Ball was apprehended in Osceola on Wednesday night and is currently in custody at the St. Joseph County Jail.
