An Elgin man, Jarrail Ford-Gresham, aged 34, has been accused of two felony counts of drug-induced homicide and two felony counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. The charges stem from incidents that occurred in Palatine and Elgin last year.
According to Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, Gresham allegedly delivered cocaine to two individuals in Elgin and Palatine between November 30 and December 1, 2023. Tragically, both individuals passed away after consuming cocaine laced with fentanyl.
Details of the Incidents
The first incident took place in Elgin, where one of the victims and a third party pooled their resources to purchase crack-cocaine from Gresham. Surveillance footage captured the third party entering and exiting Gresham’s vehicle. The following morning, both individuals were found unresponsive at a homeless encampment in Elgin.
On the same day, Gresham and another victim, identified as a 32-year-old woman by Palatine police, were seen entering a Motel 6 in Palatine. Later that evening, the woman was discovered deceased on the bed in the motel room.
Legal Proceedings
Gresham is currently detained at the Kane County Adult Justice Center and is scheduled to appear in court on June 5. He was apprehended by the Elgin Police Department following a joint investigation with the Palatine Police Department.
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul emphasised the dangers of illicit drugs, particularly fentanyl, stating, “These charges serve as a stark reminder of the lethal consequences of drug abuse. I am dedicated to collaborating with law enforcement agencies throughout the state to eradicate drug-related crimes and safeguard our communities.”
