James Conway : “9-Year-Old Indian Girl in London Shooting Tragedy”

A tragic incident unfolded in Hackney, London, where four individuals, including a nine-year-old Indian girl, were shot in a senseless act of violence on Wednesday evening. The shocking incident took place at 9:20 PM on May 29 on Kingsland High Street, leaving the community in disbelief.

The young girl, identified as Lissel Maria from Kerala, was critically wounded during a drive-by shooting at a local restaurant where she was enjoying a meal with her family.

Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway expressed profound sorrow over the incident, emphasizing that an urgent and thorough investigation was already underway to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime. The victims, consisting of three men aged 26, 37, and 42, in addition to the innocent young girl, were swiftly transported to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

‘Extremely concerned’

While the male victims are reported to be in stable condition, the young Indian girl is currently fighting for her life, with her injuries described as potentially life-altering. Detective Conway extended his sympathies and solidarity to the girl and her family, highlighting her as an innocent victim of the indiscriminate nature of gun violence.

“I know that local residents will be deeply troubled by this incident. We share in that concern, and a swift investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the perpetrators,” Detective Conway reiterated.

According to authorities, there seems to be no apparent link between the victims, underscoring the random and senseless nature of the attack. Law enforcement officers promptly secured two crime scenes at Kingsland High Street and Colvestone Crescent following the incident.

At Colvestone Crescent, investigators recovered a stolen motorbike believed to have been involved in the shooting, introducing a new layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation. The Specialist Crime unit has assumed control of the case, with local law enforcement officers providing crucial support and aid, as stated by the London police.
